Lavender Road was founded by Melissa Welch, whose years living abroad introduced her to the beauty and fragility of traditional handcrafts. While living in Turkey, she discovered the art of towel weaving, a centuries-old tradition practiced on shuttle looms by a small number of remaining artisans. What began as admiration soon became a calling.

Melissa learned this art form was slowly disappearing as younger generations left the looms behind. Lavender Road’s mission is to help change that. By building a market for these weavers and their work, the brand seeks to preserve a craft that might otherwise fade from existence.

Melissa champions the artisans who design and bring these towels to life, creating awareness and appreciation for their skill and ensuring this remarkable tradition continues to thrive for generations to come.
